Conventional nonsense
The Democratic and Republican national conventions are over. Yes, America, you are free to return to your regularly scheduled programming. But what’s purpose of the conventions? What did we learn from them? The Democrats sold out Invesco Field. When was the last time the Denver Broncos sold out Invesco? Not since the days at Mile High.
In Minneapolis-St. Paul, Cindy McCain graced us with her presence wearing a fierce saffron shirt dress with the popped collar, diamond earrings, four-strand pearl necklace, white Chanel watch and strappy shoes. Vanity Faire tabbed her at $313,100.
So what have we learned? That a bunch of donkeys can pack a house? That McCain’s wife can run around dressed as pricey as the average Ferrari?
While America faces some hard economic times due to oil and housing costs, its nice to see that both parties can afford to throw a lavish gala of the who’s who, while the rest of the country has to find a away to get by. The conventions have become overly glorified social gatherings.
Whatever happened to just announcing the candidates? Instead of having the conventions serve the purpose of introducing candidates, we have the following: The Democrats are too busy telling America that Republicans will continue to use scare tactics sway the general public.
Republicans continue to focus on Obama’s lack of leadership record and how he is unfit to lead the country because he has no military credential. Yet they chose an inexperienced governor who is partial to banning books.
